In 2002, a diverse group in Cupertino (CA) came together to create a multicultural event. The Lunar New Year Unity Parade was created to bring the community's broad spectrum of cultures together for a day of fun and festivities that celebrate the amazing amount of diversity in this community. The client requested an identity that would best represent this event and appeal to all residents of the community — no matter what their race, religion or gender. Key words and phrases, such as "hands clasped, marching together", "bridging the gap" and "celebrate unity, celebrate community" all influenced the direction of the final logo. The colors used are bright, festive and represent the time of year the event occurs — Spring — a time of regrowth.

The stationery system and all print collateral for the event has been designed and developed by ap*d as well. Event letterhead, envelopes, second sheets, sponsorship packets, signage (banners), program booklets, posters, color flyers, three-dimensional hats (for children to color, assemble and wear), nametags and newspaper ads make up the print collateral created each year for this event.
