Calient Networks — a leading provider of intelligent, carrier-class photonic switching systems and software that allows service providers the ability to scale their networks for expanding bandwidth demands and deliver new wavelength services -— was founded by leaders in the photonic carrier systems and networking industries, and is known for its' innovation in the industry.

SuperComm is the premier annual communications exhibition and conference, with well over 4,000 attendees from 100+ countries. In order to promote Calient Network's VIP suite at SuperComm 2000, ap*d was asked to create a direct mail piece that would encourage conference attendees to be sure to visit Calient's VIP suite, as they were raffling off a one-carat diamond as a bonus giveaway.

The solution? A unique direct mail piece that incorporates alternative materials to create an interactive experience for the recipient. The invite is comprised of a metal card with six magnetic pieces, which once assembled, form the shape of a diamond and provide relevant conference information. The card and magnetic pieces are wrapped with a bellyband and closed with a wafer seal. The raffle entry card, mailing label and outer envelope (a metallic silver bubble envelope) complete the piece.

Results :: A distinctive, memorable solution for an innovative industry leader.
